Antitumor effects of Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) against superficial urinary bladder cancer is known to be strong when BCG is directly infused into the bladder, but its immunological mechanisms are poorly understood. These experiments were
performed
to elucidate the effects of intralesional or systemic administration of BCG on the antitumor activity in murine transitional cell carcinoma (MBT-2) model and on the production of cytokines by the activated splenocytes or macrophages.
